If the bride is a fashion designer, you know the wedding day will be full of style! Laura + Sam had the vision to mix an industrial location with a classic + romantic mood. Her love story began and flourished in and around the boroughs of Queens and Manhattan. So they knew they were looking for a venue near this area that would capture the best of the city. You found a gem in The Foundry! L used her design skills and brought a stunning design for baby breathing ceremony, elegant rentals and fun splashes of color. She shares:
I had the vision of giving the venue a modern feel with minimalist decor / design. I wanted the floral decorations to be edgy in shapes with a hint of bold pop colors and super soft pastel colors. Roses, anthuriums, rabbit tails, baby breath and dried / colored leaves have always been my favorites. Since we didn't hire an event coordinator, mood boards were created, rents selected, stationery designed and the floor plan and agenda planned. This became our job. I really enjoyed it!
Tom Leung Photography was there to capture every detail. Scroll with and let's take a look!
It is not always easy to find an industrial location with a lot of character. However, L + S found the PERFECT event location in the foundry. Just wait until you see the botanical elements in the ceremony room. L shared more about how they knew it was the perfect place to say "I'm doing"!
We wanted to find a place in Queens, but somewhere near Manhattan, since we met in Queens and grew up together. We shared most of our memories in both districts. I had my eyes on the Foundry LIC long before we decided on a wedding. This venue is so beautiful and the location / size was just perfect – it feels so raw and industrial but still romantic.
Sleek bridal style
A chic, form-fitting dress and an industrial venue have something that just feels right !! The wedding dress and veil are both from Alexandra Grecco. She completed the look with Nicholas Kirkwood shoes. If you're looking for a similar silhouette, check out our favorite selection of sheaths and silk crepe:
Bride + groom portraits
L designs for Ralph Lauren, so it's only fitting that S wore brand sportswear on the wedding day!
Seriously, every inch of this space offers a new backdrop for photos! We love versatility!
Minimalist ceremonial decor
Isn't this the DREAMIEST industrial location? The vines that grow along the wall and beams give it an old-fashioned feel of the old world. L + S balanced this with a super modern baby breathing installation and crisp white chairs.
Regarding the installation of the ceremony, Park and Bloom would like to thank you for this beauty! Doesn't that look heavenly? It's almost like taking vows amidst fluffy clouds! Every moment was unforgettable. Sam and I were both very worried the night before. We hardly slept, but everything went so smoothly and we couldn't have had a better wedding day than it turned out. We have received so many compliments from our guests. It was perfect. The highlight of the day happened on the dance floor. It was nice to see how our friends and families let go and enjoyed the night.
Modern wedding reception
L + S has designed the reception area very simply and elegantly, with strong splashes of color. Broadway Party Rentals offered rentals for the day to suit the minimal aesthetic and clean lines of the room.
Flowers with unique lines and sculptural shapes are currently in vogue. These minimalist designs let the flowers have their spotlight and almost function as living art for the guest tables.
Fat red and soft lavender is such a unique color combination and really bangs against a neutral room!
Nothing gives romance to a room like lighting and candles. Universal Light & Sound provided all the lighting for the wedding day.
Less is definitely more when it comes to this Penza wedding cake. A simple and clean two-tier cake with just a few floral accents is perfect for this wedding day!
A perfectly designed industrial location! Congratulations Laura + Sam! The GWS team wishes you a life full of love and happiness!
