Sometimes a wedding just looks effortless. And even though we know there’s a lot going on behind the scenes, you’ve admired the feeling of simplicity. A simple forest wedding, where every detail is just like the sweet breeze hits your face and the leaves rustle under your feet – it really is all you need. Bailey + Caitlin planned their wedding on private Queensland lot that focused on the natural elements and it was the addition of uniquely perfect details that excited us. Here is the story:
Caitlin and I have been together since our senior year, but we’ve known each other all our lives. We went to the same school and church, and our parents even work together. We didn’t really talk until 12th grade when Caitlin asked me about DM on a coffee date. There was no general theme for the day. We just wanted to have one day that authentically represented us as people and share that with our friends and family. There weren’t many decorations other than some old oil paintings and candles. We wanted to do more about the flowers so that they set the mood.
Let’s go into the woods with photos of Ben Sowry Photo!
Sweet polka dot bridesmaids
Shona Joy’s dotted bridesmaid dresses are a lot of fun + unexpected detail on an otherwise vintage boho theme!
The decor was focused on a simple mix of natural atmosphere and flowers. The muted tones and mix of textures that Yukari Botanicals designed made the flowers sing!
Bride + Groom style
Caitlin is a private art school teacher and stylist at Sphere Collective, a bridal boutique in Australia, where she turned to a beautiful tiered gown from Chosen by One Day. Meanwhile, Bailey (who also writes and records music under the name LUUNG) wore a cool window suit made of scotch and soda.
Oil painting signage + the flower frame background
What a RAD idea for a wedding sign! Lauren Horton painted the details on an old oil painting – this would make a great keepsake to hang around the house after!
Doesn’t that almost look like another portal into an overly bizarre world ?! The setting with flower hangers was perfect to add a romantic touch to the ceremony.
Sweet + easy forest wedding ceremony
Caitlin: My favorite moment is hard to choose. Our day went so smoothly and was really the best day ever! When we exchanged our personal vows, it just felt very sacred, like nobody else was there. Just an intimate promise between the two of us. Our vows are the foundation of our marriage and something I will always keep in the back of my mind in order to keep and love Bay well.
Bailey: One part that caught my eye was driving to the ceremony in the pouring rain and then getting out of the car into the sun like nothing had happened. Apparently it was chaos on the property while it was raining, but to me it just felt like the best scenario.
The guests rained dried petal confetti from Everland Favors on the newlyweds as they walked down the aisle!
The charming reception
Don’t you just love a good cake trio? Cornerstore Co did it!
The perfect dramatic drop!
Such a beautiful day for these two! Congratulations from everyone at GWS!
