High school sweethearts Holly and Blake, said “I do” with a classic garden wedding that channeled crisp and traditional vibes. Every detail of their big day celebrated both modern and timeless wedding elements for an utterly picture-perfect wedding.

Cosy Engagement…

Holly and Blake first met while they were at high school and quickly became close friends. Once they finished school, their budding romance started and it wasn’t long before the pair were inseparable. The high school sweethearts had a low-key engagement at home which was as sweet as can be. “We were having a cosy evening in the lounge room and after pacing back and forth for a while, Blake got down on one knee and asked me to marry him,” recalls Holly. They shared the news with their nearest and dearest during a celebratory dinner before announcing it to the rest of their friends with a classic Instagram post.

Capturing Candids…

From the outset, Holly and Blake knew they wanted their ceremony to take place outside where they could be surrounded by sunshine and natural beauty. So, it’s no wonder that they quickly settled on having a garden wedding with a balance of modern and classic vibes which was achieved through a crisp, white colour scheme. The day was captured by photographer, Lauren Olivia, who helped the photo-shy newlyweds achieve the most stunning wedding photos. “We both find posing for photos so uncomfortable,” shares Holly, “But Lauren made us feel so relaxed and the photos that we love the most are the candid photos she took—Lauren did an amazing job at capturing moments we didn’t even realise were happening!”

High School Posse…

Most of the wedding party was made up of the couple’s high school friends who had gotten to watch Holly and Blake’s relationship blossom from day one. Blake had five groomsmen who all wore navy MJ Bale suits with the addition of a fun pair of socks that Blake had given to them when he asked them to be his groomsmen. Holly also had five bridesmaids in her bride tribe who wore elegant, powder pink Shona Joy dresses.

Classic Bride…

Holly’s stunning bridal gown was a two-piece number, but once it was on, it looked just like an A-line dress. The sleeveless design had a flattering V-neckline and had the most sophisticated feel to it. “I never wanted a wedding dress that had lots of frills and fuss,” says Holly, “I wanted my gown to be something that I could look back on in 20 years and still love!” Holly’s bridal look was completed with a long, simple veil and a romantic bridal bouquet featuring soft, white florals and luscious greenery.

At First Sight…

The picture-perfect ceremony was held in the Botanic Gardens in Brisbane CBD. Holly and Blake both felt the magic of the day when they first caught a glimpse of each other as Holly began her walk down the aisle to Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran. “Seeing each other for the first time down the aisle was really special for both of us,” shares Holly.

Lost In Florals…

The celebrations continued at Darling and Co in Paddington where guests were welcomed by a romantic floral archway, which later served as a vibrant backdrop for photos! The reception venue was adorned with delicate white flowers that matched Holly’s bridal bouquet. Candles were also dotted throughout the room, creating a charming ambiance.

Sweet Treat…

One of our favourite moments of every wedding is…cake time! Holly and Blake had a stunning cake that perfectly suited their clean and crisp wedding theme. The delicious centrepiece featured luxe gold leaf detailing and a collection of fresh blooms to match their reception styling and Holly’s bridal bouquet.

Dance ‘Til You Drop…

Once the cake was out of the way, Holly and Blake took centre stage for their first dance. The newlyweds chose ‘Love Someone’ by Lukas Graham as their first song which made everyone watching super emotional. Then, the couple hit the dance floor to party the night away with all of their guests.

Here’s To Forever…

After honeymooning in Bali for 10 days, Holly and Blake quickly settled into their new life as husband and wife with their furry friend, an adorable dalmatian! The most important thing that the newlyweds want to share with future bride and grooms is to remember that it’s your day and not anyone else’s. “You can’t please everybody, so just do what you want to do!” says Holly. The couple found wedding planning to be a much more enjoyable process when they decided to just relax and plan one thing at a time. “We didn’t try to do too much which I think is what really helped,” shares Holly. We loved getting to swoon over Holly and Blake’s gorgeous wedding photos and wish them all the very best with the next chapter in their love story as husband and wife.
