Ideas for an exquisite winter wedding ceremony

The nights may be darker, but the sparkle is brighter! Throwing a winter wedding is just as popular as a summer wedding to announce the “i dos”, not just at the reduced prices! Here are our tips for a wonderful winter wedding!

List of locations …

Be sure to ask about your options regarding the ceremony and reception. Are there outside areas? Are you protected from the wind? Do they all fit comfortably? How cold will you be? Make sure you go through the options and choose what is best for you and your guests.

Arrange an evening visit …

When choosing a venue, be sure to request a night visit as well. Of course, what it looks like during the day matters, but the bulk of your wedding will take place when the sun goes down. When you go on an evening visit, you can see a number of factors: How cozy is it? Is it hot? What lighting does it have? If you make sure your venue takes these factors into account, you can have a wonderful winter wedding!

In case you get cold …

Whether you are hosting an indoor or outdoor winter wedding, providing blankets for your guests is a must for the ultimate cozy feeling! Use blankets that match your wedding theme color or embroidered with your initials to add the cutest wedding. Unless you are offering them as a wedding favors, we wouldn’t recommend having them for every guest. Just add a few and your guests will be able to share them.

This little light of mine …

Nothing screams for winter wonderland like the warm glow and the slight flickering of candles! We love incorporating them into table designs for the ultimate romantic dinner feel, or is there a large open fireplace? Fill the fireplace with candelabras of different sizes (or put the candles in large vases for a safer option) for a beautiful winter wonderland theme.

Twinkle twinkle …

We love the use of fairy lights to add a romantic touch to the dark environment. If you look around the venue, you can find the best areas to decorate with extra sparkles. Perhaps an archway or a large tree in the garden would look spectacular as a backdrop. Remember, you can never have enough twinkling lights!

Behind the bar …

It’s safe to say that most weddings have alcohol available, but should that change for a winter wedding? While the temperature shouldn’t change what you’re trying to offer your guests, this can inspire you to add some additional options. Find out if it is also possible to have hot drinks available. Hot chocolate or mulled wine bar would be a wonderful addition.

Festive feast …

Cheese fondue, heartwarming soup, Moulton chocolate pudding? Scrap the dainty bites and offer your guests some serious comfort food! When the air is cold, everyone wants a heartwarming meal full of dairy products and carbohydrates.

Start the party asap …

What better way to keep warm than dancing the night away? Make sure you don’t start the party long after dinner to make sure everyone is on the dance floor.

Plot plan B …

A winter wedding can only be a little chilly, and it can be perfectly okay to stay at that temperature for the duration of the ceremony. If temperatures drop any further or it starts to snow, it can change plans for the big day. Be sure to ask the venue if they have a plan B in case the weather changes drastically.

Baby it’s cold outside

Of course, you want to make sure that you capture some really gorgeous pictures on your special day. For some couples, this means being outdoors regardless of temperature. Ask the venue where the best photo and logistics locations are for that particular area.

Wrap up…

So you’ve found gorgeous bridesmaid dresses that might not be suitable for winter, but you must have them? Provide your bridesmaids with scarves to turn any gorgeous dress into the perfect winter dress.

Wardrobe…

Low temperatures mean many layers. Since most of your guests bring hats, coats, and scarves, it’s a good idea to keep them in a place where they can be easily stored. Ask the venue if they have a dedicated space. If no room is assigned, ask if something is available somewhere.

Winter Wonderland discount

It has been proven that winter is the least chosen time of year to get married, although it is on the rise. For the majority of couples, this is due to the weather and restrictions in place. Since this is the case, many venues offer discounted prices or special offers for the winter months. Be sure to ask for all available information. Remember, always save money where you can!
