Jacqui and Temujin’s unlikely love story

Here at Modern Wedding we firmly believe that love is love. It knows no boundaries of age, gender or culture. Love is just love, and falling in love is pure magic. Jacqui and Temujin are a fine example of this – an unlikely match who has fallen madly in love and plans to get married in April. While there may be an age difference between the couple, with Jacqui 61 and Temujin 28 years old, the couple knows that they have found their life partner. We were lucky enough to have their engagement shoot shared with us and we just had to show you!

The unlikely couple …

The love you see between this wonderful couple is amazing. You see two people happily admiring each other and looking forward to getting married in April. But Temujin and Jacqui didn’t fall in love at first sight. What turned out to be soulmates who found each other began as innocent friendship. Temujin took one of Jacquis’s dance classes and immediately thought, “I need to know something about this woman because she has such a personality and hasn’t even said anything.” Jacqui was married at the time and only saw Temujin as a student.

Fast forward two years …

Two years after they first met, when Jacqui was now single, they both happened to be in Singapore one day. Temujin invited Jacqui to his show and a friendship began. They talked about the world, Jacqui’s ex-husband and the struggles of life. They talked for hours until the sun rose. “I couldn’t wait to run back to have the most interesting conversation with the most extraordinary, unique person I’ve ever met. We just sat cross-legged and stared at each other,” she says. Then one day they kissed.

The feedback from loved ones …

When the relationship began, Jacqui hid Temujin on her houseboat for fear of the judgment she might receive from others. It was the first time for her that she was in a relationship with such a large age difference. Once the relationship was open, they received mixed reactions from loved ones. Temujin’s family is very supportive of the couple, while Jacqui disapproved of some of her sisters and mother. For many other family members and friends, it was simply necessary to see the couple together to realize that they had something special. The couple also recognized that age discrimination is experienced by many couples regardless of the relationship itself.

Learning to love …

Public discrimination aside, the couple are aware that there are problems to be faced. Jacqui having daughters means her life balance is different from Temujin’s, but like so many relationships, they make it work. Jacqui is also worried that she will leave Temujin as a young widower, to which he replies: “I’m not sure why we live this way, where we worry about who will die first.” Despite the problems they face, Jacqui says there is no other place she would rather be. “I’m now experiencing the kind of love I dreamed of as a little girl. I had to wait until almost 60 to say this was fairytale love … that’s what I thought relationships should be. “

A designer dream …

The couple really had the most incredible team by their side for their engagement shoot. Some of the best vendors in the business came together to make sure this couple had the most magical day possible. With the couple receiving frequent criticism and comments about their relationship, we wanted to hear what the love industry experts had to say! Nicky Apostolopulous, designer of the cult brand Velani, said that she wanted to be part of the shoot because “love is love and we shouldn’t discriminate based on gender or age. I hope everyone can accept and understand that it is two people. ” in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together, regardless of their age. “Nicky dressed Jacqui in the most incredible dress for the shoot – an Italian lace top in a soft champagne with a layered tulle skirt.

Capture love …

Dean and Rachel Bentick from Inlighten Photography captured the couple that day. “When Nicky told us the story of Jacqui and Tem, we knew straight away that we wanted to get on board and create something special for both the couple and Nicky,” they explained. When asked about their views on love and them of all shapes and sizes, the photography duo shared that couples with age differences are quite common, but the man is usually older. “We photographed many couples that consisted of an older man and a younger woman. It had never occurred to me that we had never shot an older woman with a younger man! For the past 20 years we have made love in Photographed so many different shapes and sizes, I was shocked to realize that we had never had a relationship of this nature before. And I didn’t realize it. It was an honor to be part of highlighting this couple’s loving relationship and hopefully to give to other couples who can share a similar relationship, the confidence of knowing that love is beautiful in any relationship. “

Nice words from the beauty team …

The bride also worked with the most magical glamor team, Lizzie Liros and Ann Hassarati. Both were touched when they were asked by Nicky from Velani to join the shoot. When asked about intergenerational couples, Lizzie said, “I can’t judge anyone and why judge someone who is in love. Love is love, it is a blessing to be in love, and when two people are happy, God bless them both. ” Ann shares a similar sentiment: “Finding love is a blessing. But love is hard work. You have to keep trying and choosing the other. Personally, I value those who challenge” traditionally. Ideals and pursuit Love and happiness, regardless of old norms. It’s inspiring and a great example for the next generation. “
